Weiss Christmas
The Toronto Star has a big story today about yet another great Christmas decoration house. This one is created by Myles Weiss to raise money for cancer care at the Southlake Regional Health Centre in honour of Nicole Smith, a friend and neighbour of his family who died this past fall at the age of seven. Back in 1995, the gesture raised over $5,000 for the hospital, but Weiss hasn't had a chance to put the show together since then... until now.
This year, Weiss spends hundreds of hours mounting floodlights and stringing thousands of bulbs, many scrounged from garage sales. As at the Lindsay display (described below), the lights are wired to "dance" to music that's piped to sidewalk listeners in via speakers, and also broacdast over car radios at 107.3 FM.
The Weiss home is at 123 Rutledge Avenue, near Leslie Street and Davis Drive in Newmarket. (Go west on Wayne Drive to Howlett Avenue to Rutledge.) The lights are on from 6 to 10:30 p.m. until early January.
There's another story about the house here. Both links are linked to videos of the Weiss house.
