Hairspray Filming Location News

As of this morning, crews shooting Hairspray (yes, the one with John Travolta, Queen Latifah and other stars) had moved to Carlaw south of Queen Street East, and were working with an impressive assembly of lovely '50s-'60s cars.

A later note: Queen Latifah was on Carlaw for sure, and Travolta was rumoured to have been actually shooting a number there (not confirmed). But don't expect to get any pictures of the stars; this is an especially strict shoot in that regard. Not sure whether they're stll there today (Wednesday), but they were still there yesterday night...

Thanks for risking the ire of the crew to get this image, Lex!

I know this is really old, but, I moved to New Zealand from Toronto last September, and just stumbled upon your blog when looking for the shooting locations for Hairspray. It's just in theatres in NZ and I saw it on Wednesday and thought I recognized the scenery. Do you know, by any chance, if the school used in the shot was the Regent Park School?
Thanks!
Heather
